When the LORD Jesus calls us out of darkness into His marvellous light, He calls us to be His disciples, following faithfully in His footsteps; and to be His witnesses and ambassadors in this world, by living a life they is not only pleasing to Him, but also a life that proclaims the transforming power of the gospel to the whole world, as seen working in our own lives. This is what we can gather by reading the words of our LORD, and His apostles, written for our benefit, in the New Testament. The life that our LORD Jesus is calling us to, requires from us a deep and firm CONVICTION, COURAGE and a willing heart to pay the COST OF A DISCIPLE.

On 18 March 1813 Abdul Masih [formerly Shekh Salih] a man who was touched and transformed by the LORD Jesus, to be His witnessing disciple, arrives in Agra, India, where he works wholeheartedly as an evangelist and educator. Whenever he preached out-doors, many Muslims would crowd the rooftops to hear him speak about His LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ.
On 18 March 1830 Seetha Ram, again someone who was touched and transformed by the LORD Jesus, to be His witnessing disciple, breathes his last, at Gorackpore, India. Despite his ill health, and all that it cost him in social ostracism, because of his faith in the LORD Jesus Christ, Seetha Ram had shared the gospel publicly and privately for about twelve years with people of his previous religion, and anyone and everyone whom he met.
Abdul Masih [formerly Shekh Salih] and Seetha Ram, when touched and transformed by the LORD Jesus, they did not keep quiet and lived a silent and insignificant life. They chose to willingly share the Good News – the Gospel of the LORD Jesus Christ – with anyone and everyone, wholeheartedly, at great personal risk and danger. They visibly demonstrated their CONVICTION and COURAGE and their willingness to pay THE COST OF A DISCIPLE because they loved their LORD, and faithfully followed in His footsteps.
– “The Great Commission is not an option to be considered. It is a command to be obeyed.” – Hudson Taylor
Our love for the LORD is seen in our love for the lost. The LORD loved the sinful and fallen world so much, that He chose to be born as a human, and die for our redemption, on the Cross of Calvary. If this is how much the LORD Jesus loved, and still loves the lost, how much should we be loving the lost, and sharing the gospel with them, as His disciples and witnesses? How are we doing in this regard?
– “Show me a person who loves Christ, and I’ll show you a person who loves the gospel too.” – Steven J. Lawson
May we seek the LORD to help us be His witnesses and ambassadors. Let us proclaim the gospel at all times, through our words and our lives. Even so, the LORD help us.
"...embarking on a life of discipleship means continually learning and growing as followers of Jesus Christ and participating in the spread of the Gospel message, particularly to least-reached communities."
