April and May are the season of holidays for schools and colleges because of summer. It is also a season of planning and setting life goals for students. What to pursue academically, and what to do in life, are decided in these weeks.
It is very important for every student to think very seriously about life, and what do they wish to pursue. It not only gives them direction, rather these decisions define their lives.
Not only students, even those who are working. They seriously pursue their careers. They dream to go up the ladder. No effort is spared, and no sacrifice is too small to reach their dream destination. Some call it ‘Rat Race.’ Sometimes I wonder – are we are working, so that we can live; or living, so that we can work.
Dreams, career and goals are good, and they ought to be pursued with passion. However, to everything that we do, there has to be balance. If not, life will go out of balance. Perspective gives that much needed balance.
For a Christian, life has two dimensions – temporal and eternal. We have to strike a balance between the two. If not, we become too engrossed with temporal, that we practically become useless for eternal. Same is the opposite too. Remember, Jesus asked, “”do you have anything for them to eat?””
Why are we here on the earth? This is the question that a Christian need to ask. If it is answered well, the rest of puzzle falls well in its place.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: – 1 Peter 2:9
Whether we are pursuing our careers, or passionately ploughing in the vineyard of the LORD, we ought to be glorifying God. Would God be happy looking at you, and that which you are pursuing? Take stock friends. April and May is also a time to file our Income Tax Returns.
