Fear, is something that comes most normally for us, as human beings. Adam and Eve, when they sinned, hid themselves from the presence of God, when He came to meet them.
– “8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.” – Genesis 3:8-10
Ever since, fear has become our second nature. Collins Dictionary defines it this way – “a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid.”
The Bible, talks about fear in Proverbs 29:25. It does not end with fear of man, but encourages the reader, to consider God, who is the remedy of all human fear.
– “25 The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the LORD shall be safe.” – Proverbs 29:25
Yes, our LORD can help us with all they is troubling us, if only we can trust Him. The problem of fear, that has its permanent residence in human heart, has its remedy in God, who can meet all our needs, and allay all our fears. God of the Bible is our Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer, Provider and our everything. He loves us and cares for us. God know us, in and out.
David found the remedy for all his fears, in his life, and had penned the same in Psalm 139, which is aptly titled *”God’s Perfect Knowledge of Man”* by the New King James Version. Here under are a few selected verses from Psalm 139, for our reading and our benefit…to allay all our fears.
– “1 O LORD, You have searched me and known me. 2 You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. 3 You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. 4 For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.” – Psalm 139:1-4
– “7 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.” – Psalm 139:7-10
– “13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb….16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. ” – Psalm 139:13,16
– “17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.” – Psalm 139:17-18
– “23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.” – Psalm 139:23-24
Let us learn to trust God, and lean not on our own understanding – Proverbs 3:5-8. May we always run to God, if ever there is anything, that troubles us. He is the only One who truly cares, and One who will surely help. HalleluYah!!!
"It is not, ‘He that trusteth in himself;’ not, ‘He that trusteth in a priest;’ not, ‘He that performs good works, and trusts in them,’ but, ‘whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.’ The man who is trusting in the blood and righteousness of Jesus may not always be happy, but he is safe; he may not always be singing, but he is safe; he may not always have the joy of full assurance, but he is safe. He may sometimes be distressed, but, he is always safe; he may sometimes question his interest in Christ, but he is always safe."
