July 8, 2026When we truly encounter God Almighty, the LORD Jesus Christ, we can’t but end up singing His praises and declaring aloud His glory and His majesty. The praise for God would come gushing out of our lips naturally and without any effort or compulsion. The encounter with God breaks all barriers and would open our heart, mind and eyes to the truth about who God is. Once when we come to see who God truly is, are completely transformed, and we cannot unsee it.
David the shepherd boy who became the king, grasped the majesty and the glory of the LORD God Almighty, the God of all the earth, our Creator and the only true God. Therefore he pens Psalm 145, which the New King James version titles as, “A Song of God’s Majesty and Love.” David plainly declares…
– “3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.” – Psalm 145:3
The words of David in the above verse tells us about how he is in awe of God, His glory and His majesty. David makes three profound statements in this small verse of fourteen words.
1- He declares unequivocally “GREAT IS THE LORD”
2- Then he declares that the LORD God Almighty is “GREATLY TO BE PRAISED”
3- David then goes on to state the reason why he wishes to praise and worship God – “HIS GREATNESS IS UNSEARCHABLE”
– The God of the Bible, the LORD God of all creation, the LORD Jesus Christ, our Redeemer is “GREAT” and this assertion needs no further explanation. Anyone who knows anything about the LORD Jesus would most naturally come to this conclusion alone, and nothing else.
– This GREAT GOD, when we come to truly know Him, we will realise that He is worthy of all our praise. Hence David declares, “HE IS GREATLY TO BE PRAISED!” Anyone who knows the greatness of God would most naturally praise Him with all their heart, mind and body.
– When one truly knows God, we come to realise that “HIS GREATNESS IS UNSEARCHABLE” – the infinite greatness of the LORD God of the Bible. When we come to such a realisation, then we also will realise the finiteness and the frailty of our own being, and that of all human beings. What is the worth of a mere matchstick in the presence of the mighty sun? There is no comparison at all, whatsoever. Much worse is our case than that of the matchstick, when we actually stand in the presence of God our Creator and Redeemer.
My dear brothers and sisters, let us pause this morning to ponder upon our encounter with the God of the Bible. Have we truly seen the LORD God our Father, our Master and our Redeemer? What impact did such an encounter have upon us and our understanding about God? Are we in awe and wonder about our LORD Jesus? Do we see Him as He truly is – glorious and majestic? May we never stop being in awe of our LORD. May we never stop to praise our LORD. May His praises ever flow out of our lips, UNCEASINGLY night and day. Even so, the LORD help us.
