Praising God for His goodness, grace and mercy is a never-ending process, for us as Christians. If we look into our hearts, and then see the way the LORD has dealt with, will only but compel us, to thank Him forever and ever.
Psalm 118 is one such Psalm that talks about Praising God for His Everlasting Mercy towards us, who rightfully deserve nothing but death – Romans 6:23. The Psalm begins with “1 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” There are no two thoughts about it. Give thanks to the LORD, for HE IS GOOD!!!
The exact same words as verse one, are used to conclude the Psalm – “29 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” It is not a coincidence. It is intentionally used, to emphasise our need to praise and thank God.
Our life, as a saved sinner, should commence, with praise and thanksgiving to our LORD and our Saviour. Our life should continue in the same path of praise and thanksgiving. Our life should conclude with praise and thanksgiving to our LORD and our Saviour. For there is no better thing to give to the LORD and our Saviour, than our praises and thanksgiving – offered with a grateful and thankful heart.
"We need to discover all over again that worship is natural to the Christian, as it was to the godly Israelites who wrote the psalms, and that the habit of celebrating the greatness and graciousness of God yields an endless flow of thankfulness, joy, and zeal."
