Psalms are such a fascinating read. It speaks to us so well, and bring such succour to us, even after close to three thousand years.
King David, who penned Psalm 51, had to be an humane, honest and transparent man. If not, it is impossible to write the way he did. We see David’s honesty and transparent outlook in so many of his Psalms, especially in Psalm 51. It speaks of his trust in God, and his understanding about God and His dealings.
Psalm 51 is an honest and transparent prayer of “Repentance” and “Restoration.”
“1 Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions.”
“3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me.”
“4 Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight…”
“10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me….
12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.”
“13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You.” – Psalm 51:1,3,4,10,12,13
What a prayer! How about us when we sin and fall from grace?
"All men will be Peters in their bragging tongue, and most men will be Peters in their base denial; but few men will be Peters in their quick repentance."
