The Bible says, “12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” – Ephesians 6:12. The world, its systems and it’s rulers and powers that be, will oppose the LORD Jesus, and His disciples. This is the reality of life of a Christian disciple.
Such an opposition has always been there, and is there and will be there in the future too. The LORD Jesus Himself had said, “16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake.” – Luke 21:16-17
In fact the LORD says, “10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.” – Matthew 5:10-11
History records for us that, Christians were persecuted for all kinds of reasons. Unseen powers and their puppets, will always work, with all their heart and force, to stop the LORD’s work, by all means, and at any cost. On 17 June 362 AD, Emperor Julian “the Apostate” orders that all professors and schoolmasters in the Roman Empire must obtain a license before teaching—thus excluding Christians from educating youth.
On 17 June 1789 AD, Jesse Lee preaches his first sermon outdoors, in Connecticut, USA, because no one was willing to let him borrow a house or barn for a Church.
On 17 June 1963 AD, the U.S. Supreme Court rules 8-1 that states cannot require the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer or Bible verses in public schools.
Such things happened, and will happen today, and will happen even in the future. All the talk of freedom, liberty and such ideals is empty talk. They are all masks to pretend, and they are actually preparing to usher in the reign of the Anti-Christ. We are in fact in those very days.
May the LORD help us to be faithful and obedient to Him and Him alone.
"3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God."
