Everyone, whether rich or poor, literate or illiterate, bright or not so bright, have dreams about their future. There would be no one in this world, who does not have dreams for their future. Dreams are part and parcel of every growing individual’s aspirations for the future. Having aspirations for our future is a good thing. It is also a very normal thing. We should encourage everyone to have their own dreams for their lives.
As we grow up, sometimes, our dreams fizzle out because they were unrealistic. Sometimes they fizzle out because, we are unprepared and unwilling to commit to the rigours of the process that would bring results. Sometimes they fizzle because we took the a wrong turn, and messed it up, and by the time we realised the mistake, our time was up.
For our dreams to come true, we have to work hard with single-minded focus, discipline and dedication. The kind of effort one puts in, and the willingness to sacrifice the other things, tells a lot about our mettle, and our character to pursue our dreams. Achieving our dreams is not as simple and easy, as having a dream. There is much more to it.
As a Christian, we ought to factor in the plans that our LORD has for us and our lives. God wants to use us at a particular time in history, in a particular way, and for the fulfilment of a particular purpose or purposes, in and through our lives. We should be willing to lay out our personal dreams at the feet of the LORD, and be able to say without any reservations, “LORD, not my will; but your will be done.”
Let us look at some Scripture portions which help us see that God is concerned about us, our future, and intends to bless us, and use us, to bless others. *Is that not a great life to live? A life which gains its true dreams, and gets God to help us fulfill them; and over that, we can be used by God as a channel of His blessing, in the lives of others?* I sure think it is.
– “11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
– “3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. 6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.” – Psalm 37:3-6
– “6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
– “6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” – Philippians 1:6
THE KEY THAT OPENS THE DOOR OF OUR HOPES AND DREAMS
We as Christians are called to think, speak and do things in a certain way. This walking of the Narrow Path will do wonders for us, despite not many wanting to walk this way. Herein is the key that opens the doors of our hope and dreams.
– “17 Do not let your heart envy sinners, But be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day; 18 For surely there is a hereafter, And your hope will not be cut off.” – Proverbs 23:17-18
SHATTERED DREAMS? NOT AN ISSUE!
If ever there are dreams that were important to you, but nevertheless got shattered and crushed; take heart dear brothers and sisters, the LORD can use that very thing, and turn our bitter experience into a blessing to others, and thereby, we ourselves become a channel of blessing.
– “3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Whatever our dreams, let us choose to lay them at the LORD’s feet. Let us seek His face for guidance and help. Let us decide firmly to “LET GOD CARRY IT – “OUR DREAMS” and we be not worried or scared. The LORD will take care of everything. Let us trust God’s infinite wisdom, to help us and guide us with our dreams, for our lives. Even so, the LORD help us.
"...I think we should pour our energy into becoming radically God-centered people, radically Christ-exalting people, radically Bible-saturated people, radically loving people, radically risk-taking, servant-like people. In other words, the lion’s share of our efforts in life should be to become a kind of person. Then, in ways that to me appear increasingly mysterious, God guides his people — his radically crazy, God-entranced, Christ-treasuring, Bible-permeated people — he guides us into some of the most surprising vocational pathways that we can imagine. It’s a great mystery to me how he does that so differently for so many different faithful Christians."
