The Word of God places a great deal of importance on love. The LORD God loved us – rebellious sinners and enemies – to such an extent, that He Himself came down to redeem and restore us. This IS love!
The love that we see in operation here, is the same love that permeates every aspect of God. Such love is visible in all His dealings with us. This is TRUE love!
Cambridge Dictionary defines “permeate” this way – “to spread through something, and be present in every part of it.” This is what love is, and should be! Something that drives every other thing in our life, regardless of what has happened, and how we feel about it. This is GENUINE love!
Paul expounds what exactly is love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7…
“4 LOVE suffers long
and is kind;
LOVE does not envy;
LOVE does not parade itself,
is not puffed up;
5 does not behave rudely,
does not seek its own,
is not provoked,
thinks no evil;
6 does not rejoice in iniquity,
but rejoices in the truth;
7 bears all things,
believes all things,
hopes all things,
endures all things.“
The list is quite steep. Have we not seen the LORD dealing the same way with us? He still does! Doesn’t He? Now, if the LORD is walking this way, how can we, His disciples walk any other way? The love as we see in the LORD, should permeate our every thought, word and deed. It is the only way for us, and we better walk on it. The sooner the better!
"You can always give without loving, but you can never love without giving."
