May 17, 2022The Bible exhorts us to “deck” ourselves with jewellery. However, the ornaments around our neck are not the ones made of gold or silver, but are of far more value, and that which would not only outlast the precious metals, but those which would be with us throughout the eternity. How wonderful!
Proverbs 3:3-4 lists for us, the jewellery that is precious, priceless and eternal in the sight of God… “3 Let not MERCY and TRUTH forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.”
MERCY – “kindness shown toward someone whom you have the right or power to punish.” – Cambridge Dictionary
TRUTH – “the actual facts or information about something, rather than what people think, expect, or make up.” – McMillan Dictionary
Mercy and Truth are important for a fruitful life. They both are the attributes of God. What about us? Let us seek the LORD to help us with mercy and truth.
