Who or what holds the *”NUMERO UNO”* [number one] position in our lives, speaks a lot about what we value, what we cherish, what we care for, and where our heart, mind and soul truly is. For Asaph, the psalmist, YAHWEH is at the center of his heart, and Asaph, has no one else, as close to him, as is his LORD! HalleluYah!!! What a heart it is!
– “25 Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.” – Psalms 73:25
Do we see the first commandment being fulfilled in the words of Asaph? I can see it!!!
– “3 “You shall have no other gods before Me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image – any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God…” – Exodus 20:3-5
Paul, affirms it very clearly, to the early Church at Philippi, what should be the most important thing in one’s life, through his personal example…
– “8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.” – Philippians 3:8
Anything or anyone, that takes the numero uno place in our lives, becomes our idol, and by default, our god. The LORD Jesus Himself had said…
– “21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” – Matthew 6:21
There is none in heaven and on earth, that should charm us, to hold attention, and our hearts…for this simple reason, that there is none, who can and will, love and care for us, and our welfare, as does the LORD Himself. O LORD My God, How Great Thou Art!
How are things going with us? What do we value the most in our lives? Does what we love, and care for the most, in our lives, is in conflict with God? May the LORD help us see. May the LORD help us seek His grace and help to set things in order. May our lives truly be living for God and His glory… ALWAYS. Even so, the LORD help us.
"Who is there in all the host of heaven on whom I can place any reliance, excepting thee? None of thy "holy ones," neither angel nor archangel, can afford me any support or sustenance, preserve or guide or save me, but THOU only. And there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. Much less can earth supply me with a substitute for God. On him my heart's affections are centred."
