Many have written about the grace of God, and it is still not sufficient enough, to fully describe the grace of God. It is still not sufficient, to grasp this grace of God. It is still not sufficient, to appreciate the grace of God. The more we seem to dig deeper, the deeper it seems to be, and so much more yet to be discovered. Surely it is, the Amazing Grace of God.
Paul writing to the Christians at Ephesus, lays down the fundamentals of our salvation, and the role that the grace of God, played in it. We can’t but say, “OH THE GRACE AMAZING!”
– “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9
Small wonder then, that, John Newton, the wretched slave trader, wrote in 1779, the wonderful words of the moving hymn, *”Amazing Grace!”*
– “Amazing grace! how sweet the sound, That saved a wretch; like me! I once was lost, but now am found, Was blind, but now I see.”
It is the grace of God, that had pity on us, and saved us from our wretchedness.
John Newton, then goes on to explain how this grace of God, helps us, teaches us, shapes us, and transforms us, in the face of all our fears, struggles and storms.
– “’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, And grace my fears relieved; How precious did that grace appear The hour I first believed!”
Newton, in the third stanza, goes on speak about the grace of God, which will complete the work, that was begun in us. God is not in the habit of leaving anything half way. He will complete the work He had begun. Oh the glorious grace!!!
– “Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come: ’tis grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.”
Isn’t that truly and wonderfully “Amazing Grace?” Oh, the grace of God, who can fully describe it? Who can clearly explain it? Who can properly expound, all that it is? LORD, please grant us the grace, to grasp your grace, and grow in our understanding of your grace. LORD God, we pray, kindly and graciously, grant us this, our request. Even so the LORD help us.
"When grace penetrates into the depth of an anguished soul, joy in the Lord anchors faith."
