The works that God had done are, works that are mighty and majestic. They are works which we cannot comprehend. They are works which we cannot count in their entirety. They are works that bless the whole earth. A cursory glance at the sun, moon and the stars will help us know the greatness and the grandness of our God. Look at the seasons, and the system that is making them work like a clock. Oh, can we even begin to grasp the works of the LORD God Almighty? It is impossible for us to know them, and impossible to understand them!
– “5 Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered.” – Psalm 40:5
– “7 He commands the sun, and it does not rise; He seals off the stars; 8 He alone spreads out the heavens, And treads on the waves of the sea; 9 He made the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, And the chambers of the south; 10 He does great things past finding out, Yes, wonders without number.” – Job 9:7-10
– “1 The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard.” – Psalm 19:1-3
God’s works reveal His power and His sovereignty. They reveal His Omnipotence. When we come to realise who God is, and know His works, we cannot but stand in awe of Him. When we grasp, even a tiny bit of who God is, praise cannot stop gushing out of our lips…it would flow non-stop.
– “1 I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. 2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.” – Psalm 9:1-2
– “2 Praise Him for His mighty acts; Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!” – Psalm 150:2
– “4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts. 5 I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, And on Your wondrous works. 6 Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, And I will declare Your greatness. 7 They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, And shall sing of Your righteousness.” – Psalm 145:4-7
We see the works of God all around us. We see it in the sky. We see it on the earth. We see it in the nature all over this beautiful earth. We see them in the things recorded for our reading, in the Bible. We see the works of God in our own lives. How are we responding to all what we are seeing and experiencing? Do we actually see them? Do we realise all what God had done in our lives? If we do, then, we cannot but praise God and thank Him enough. Our hearts will be overflowing with gratitude and thanks, and our lips would be gushing with praise and thanks.
Is it so with us, this morning? Is our heart filled with gratitude towards God? Are our lips gushing with praise for our LORD? May the LORD help us to know His works, and may we realise His mighty works. May God help us to see His hand, working wonders in and around us. May the LORD open our eyes.
"...who "could" enumerate and record all the acts of God's benevolence toward men in the works of creation, providence, and redemption; all that he has done in the history of the Church, and for the individual members of the Church in past times; all that he has done to save his people in the days of persecution; all that has been accomplished in our own individual lives? Obviously these things are beyond all power of enumeration by man. They can be admired now only in the gross; eternity alone will be sufficient for us to look at them and to recount them in detail."
