“PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM…”

“PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM…” are the first words of Sunday School chorus that I learnt a long long back. The words go like this…
– “PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM IN THE MORNING, PRAISE HIM IN THE NOON TIME, PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN.”
One can add many stanzas simply by replacing “PRAISE HIM” with words like, “LOVE HIM” and “THANK HIM ” 

I like this Sunday School chorus very much. Many may not consider it a serious song of praise and worship for a Sunday worship service. They may say, it is a good song, but is too simple, and the words are not deep and enlightening. It is a fair assessment. But still, I love this “children’s” chorus very much because, it has deep theology in those few simple and repetitive words.

The chorus teaches us to praise God…
– ALL THROUGH THE DAY – morning, noon and evening.
– AT ALL TIMES – when we have bright sunshine, through the pouring rain, through the cold and shivering winter, or through the dull, gloomy and cloudy day.
– THROUGH ALL SITUATIONS – whether it is pleasant or tough, or painful and stormy times.

It is a simple song that can be sung at all times, in all situations and all through the day. What a wonderful song it is, that reminds us to PRAISE our God through every situation all through the day. Isn’t this what Paul was trying to help the early Church and “young” Christians at Philippi to understand?
– “4 Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” – Philippians 4:4

When the LORD speaks to us through His servant Paul, “to rejoice always in the LORD” and repeats it again the second time, immediately; then is it not imperative upon us that we should pay serious attention to it? Isn’t it so? 
– “What a gracious God we serve, who makes delight to be a duty, and who commands us to rejoice! Should we not at once be obedient to such a command as this? It is intended that we should be happy.” Charles Spurgeon

The LORD has many things to teach us. All are important, and all contribute for our growth and development. However, there is nothing in comparison to PRAISING, REJOICING, THANKING and WORSHIPPING GOD at all times – MORNING, AFTERNOON and EVENING. This is the whole duty of man – to praise the LORD Jesus, our God, our Creator, our Redeemer and our Sustainer. 

How about beginning our “rejoicing” in the LORD right away? Why wait for some other time TO PRAISE GOD? Isn’t this the right time to praise, thank and worship our LORD Jesus? Let us…”PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM IN THE MORNING, PRAISE HIM IN THE NOON TIME, PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM, PRAISE HIM WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN.” Even so, the LORD help us.
