“PRAISE COMES NATURALLY…” if we truly experience the grace, mercy and the love of God. The key is within us, and not anywhere outside. To know and understand God’s grace, mercy and the love, we need to know and understand who we are. The day we know and understand ourselves and our fallenness, praise for God would overflow from within our hearts, normally, naturally and automatically.
– “47 Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” – Luke 7:47
What, the LORD Jesus said above, is the key, to the way we see God, love Him, and praise Him. When we realise our sinfulness, and the consequences of it, then we appreciate our redemption, and the forgiveness of our sins, that has come about of God’s love, mercy and grace.
– “…awareness of one’s need for forgiveness correlates with the capacity to love.” – Berean Study Bible
Paul mentions the same in the following verses.
– “6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;” – Ephesians 1:6-7
– “14 and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. 15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.” – 1 Timothy 1:14-15
Two things form the foundation for someone, to whom, praising God comes normally, naturally and automatically. One, the realisation of our/my fallenness. Two, the forgiveness of our/my sin, is because of God’s goodness, grace and mercy, and not my earning of the same, nor some sort of my right. It is when these two factors are firmly entrenched in our consciousness, then we see our redemption in its proper light, and thus, praise comes normally, naturally and automatically.
– “1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” – Psalms 103:1-5
May we be among those disciples of the LORD, who will praise Him normally, naturally, and automatically, out of a deep gratitude, and heartfelt thankfulness. Even so, the LORD help us.
"...all true love to God is preceded in the heart by these two things-a sense of sin, and an assurance of pardon. Brethren, there is no love possible-real, deep, genuine, worthy of being called love of God-which does not start with the belief of my own transgression, and with the thankful reception of forgiveness in Christ. You do nothing to get pardon for yourselves; but unless you have the pardon you have no love to God."
