Psalm 54 is the contemplation of David, when the Ziphites went and said to Saul, “Is David not hiding with us?” David was a hunted man then. He was running from king Saul for his life. He was dodging danger and death for a long time. In the midst of such a terrible and miserable time, he experienced the betrayal of the Ziphites…like a stab in the back by someone trusted. What a situation to be in.
“19 Then the Ziphites came up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is David not hiding with us in strongholds in the woods, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon? 20 Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.” – 1 Samuel 23:19-20.
What does David do? How does he respond? To whom does he run to for help and shelter? Let us read Psalm 54:1-2 – “1 Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.
2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.”
This is David’s prayer. He runs to God, and seeks the One who is our only sure help. I don’t know what your life situations are. David sets us an example, that there is no better place than to run to God. No better person to seek help from, than the LORD our Redeemer. Is there any?
"Pray, and let God worry."
