Importance of prayer is something that needs to be emphasised at all times. Such is its need for a Christian. However, prayer is also one of the least used, and much neglected avenues provides to us by God. We do not spend sufficient, if not much time, in prayer. We tend to rush through it, listing most of the times, what we think we need.
Jesus is a fine example to model and emulate our prayer life. According to one study, “Jesus is shown to be praying at least thirty-eight times in the Gospels.” It speaks of the importance Jesus gave to prayer.
The Word of God exhorts us through various words to pray…
“continuing instant in prayer”
“Pray without ceasing.”
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;” – Romans 12:12, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, Philippians 4:6, Ephesians 6:18, Colossians 4:2
Cynthia Lewis says, “If your day is hemmed in with prayer, it is less likely to come unravelled.”* How true! Prayer connects us directly with God. *It is the best way to commune with our LORD and Redeemer. It not only empowers us, but keeps us in line with the will of the LORD. Let us pray at all times.
"We are to pray in times of adversity, lest we become faithless and unbelieving. We are to pray in times of prosperity, lest we become boastful and proud. We are to pray in times of danger, lest we become fearful and doubting. We are to pray in times of security, lest we become self-sufficient."
