People want security in their lives. For the sake of securing their lives, and their future, people go to many lengths. I have seen people tying strings, that are supposed to have, magical powers, to keep them safe from all evil. What is tragic is that, we can see many Christians wearing such strings…and also following many other rituals, to keep themselves safe from evil. Such things are not only superstitious, but are also clearly unbiblical, and highly objectionable for a Christian to follow, because it says, we do not trust the LORD Jesus Christ, our God, and our LORD, to keep us safe, but the strings and the spirits behind them.
Psalm 121 gives us great insights about the LORD God Almighty, our Creator and our Redeemer. The title given to it is, “God the Help of Those Who Seek Him.”
THE QUESTION OF PROTECTION – WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?
– “1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.”
THE QUESTION OF PROTECTION – WHO IS OUR PROTECTOR?
– “5 The LORD is your keeper; The LORD is your shade at your right hand. 6 The sun shall not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night.”
THE QUESTION OF PROTECTION – WHAT CONCERN DOES OUR LORD HAVE FOR US?
– “3 He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, He who keeps Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep.”*
THE QUESTION OF PROTECTION – FROM WHAT ARE WE BEING PROTECTED?
– “7 The LORD shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.”
The LORD who laid, His very life for our eternal safety, and security, when we were actually His enemies, would He not care to protect and provide, all that we need? How can we miss such a simple fact? How can we not remember all that the LORD had done for us this far?
– “31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” – Romans 8:31-32
May we not be foolish and ignorant, to be troubled and disturbed about, all that may be happening, in and around our lives. The LORD is able, and He will take care of everything. Let us simply trust Him, and walk forward in faith and obedience. Even so the LORD help us.
"...whatever happens, God’s faithful character never changes. Nor are God’s promises altered. Things aren’t easy, but we can still trust God. Trusting God in the wilderness means turning to God, not against him. It means turning to God in prayer, not away from him in silence. It means turning to God for spiritual nourishment...""
