Spiritual’ and ‘worldly’ are two dimensions that a Christian faces daily, and also struggles with. Many a time we are found wanting on matters concerning the affairs of the world. We are accused of being so concerned about ‘other’ world, that we make ourselves unfit for the present world.
I think, there is nothing wrong with the other world. Remember, God placed us in a particular place, at a given time in history. He put us in a family, and gave us a heritage. He did all that, so we would be as His light in this dark world.
Salt and Light are worth their money, only when they are put to use. If not, they are worthless, whatever their actual worth may be. How can we be useful, if we don’t know anything about what is happening around us?
Barth hits the point straight. Know what is happening around, and see them through the Word of God. Spread that wisdom wherever you are, in whatever way you can. This is how salt and light works.
Read your Bible, and your newspaper. Stand up and spread your light.
