The LORD Jesus, speaking with His disciples, had said, 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.” – John 10:11. The unique aspect of being a Shepherd is that, the sheep have to simply follow the lead of the Shepherd; while it is the responsibility of the Shepherd to take all the care needed, and give all the protection required, and provide all that needs to be provided, for the safety, welfare, and the nurture and the growth of the sheep, under the care of the Shepherd.
The Word of God makes this amply clear for us – “1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.”
“52 But He made His own people go forth like sheep, And guided them in the wilderness like a flock; 53 And He led them on safely, so that they did not fear; But the sea overwhelmed their enemies.”
“11 He will feed His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs with His arm, And carry them in His bosom, And gently lead those who are with young.”
“25 For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” – Psalms 23:1-3, 78:52, Isaiah 40:11, 1 Peter 2:25
The LORD our God is our Shepherd and we ought to trust and obey Him, as He leads us. So, let nothing trouble our hearts. The Shepherd of our souls, cares for us and our welfare.
"God has not abandoned us any more than he abandoned Job. He never abandons anyone on whom he has set his love; nor does Christ, the Good Shepherd, ever lose track of his sheep."
