Waiting upon the LORD, is an essential virtue of a Christian. Waiting is a sure sign of patience, trust, faith and confidence in the LORD Jesus Christ, who asked us to trust Him for all things – Lamentations 3:24-26; Matthew 6:26-27. The Word of God says, “6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6
What happened after the arrest, trial, crucifixion and the burial of the LORD Jesus is a true reflection human fickleness and unreliability. Most of the followers, and the hand-picked disciples, abandoned their Master. They were shaken and sifted thoroughly by Satan. They were disappointed, dejected and shattered, after witnessing the meek manner in which their Master surrendered to the powers that be, in the Garden of Gethsemane – “56…Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.” – Matthew 26:56b
Many a time, we too abandon the LORD at the first sight of trouble. We pretend, as if, we don’t know who the LORD is. Remember the zealous Peter? We doubt if God is with is. We may even attempt to “impress” God, by fasting and prayers, in the hope that, somehow our piety will move God to defend us. There is nothing wrong in fasting and praying. In fact, we should seek God with all honesty and sincerity. What the disciples lacked, and what we lack is, faith and trust in God, who explicitly asked us, to trust Him.
Not an easy thing to do – especially when severely tested and troubled. That is precisely the reason, why we need to trust God, all the more. How do we fare when troubles hits us? How are we when storms surround us? What do we do, when the water is gushing into our boat, and the LORD seems to be “peacefully” asleep? How do we respond? What do we do?
May the LORD help us, to be found faithful, to the LORD, even in all our struggles, and all our storms.
"...God does not abandon his people. At times we may feel alone and seemingly without support, but God knows above all else, how to resolve our situation in order to make it work for good."
