One of the questions that has been around since the fall of man is, the question of, *”Why do proud, arrogant, wicked and evil people seem to prosper in life, while the good man seems to struggle and suffer?”*
– “3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph? 4 How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves? 5 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage. 6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.” – Psalms 94:3-6
What is this paradox? The evil man, who oppresses people, and sucks their blood, seems to, not only go unpunished, but is in fact, doing well in life, and prospering in all what he does. Why is it so? Does that mean, the good people too should turn to evil ways, so that, they can also do well in life? There seems to be no incentive, to walk the “Narrow Path” laid by the LORD.
Let us not make this mistake, to conclude so. The Bible is clear about the good people, and the bad people. Let us not be disheartened, at the seemingly prosperous life of the wicked and the evil in this world. Such a thinking is not right. One can’t be farther from truth. Yes, momentarily they may prosper. Nothing gets past the righteous scales of God of the Bible.
– “16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.” – Proverbs 29:16
– “16 When the wicked are in authority, transgression increases, But the righteous will see the downfall of the wicked.” – Proverbs 29:16 – Amplified Bible
Let us see some more scripture portions, to help us gain a deeper and fuller understanding about God’s heart and His mind on these matters.
– “7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass. 8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. 9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. 10 For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. 11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.” – Psalm 37:7-11
– “32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. 33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged…35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. 36 Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.” – Psalm 37:32-33;35-36
So my dear brother and sister, be not discouraged and disheartened, because of the wicked and the evil, and their seemingly unstoppable progress and prosperity. Let us lose not, our hope. For the LORD is righteous and just. He will bring everything into account. God our Creator, will not allow anything to go on unhindered, before they are weighed in, in His righteous scales. When found wanting, the LORD will judge justly and fairly, without any prejudice or partiality.
– “11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. 12 Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: 13 But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God. 14 There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.” – Ecclesiastes 8:11-14
May we patiently hope and wait upon the LORD our God. He will take care of everything concerning us, and our welfare. He will not abandon us, nor allow us to suffer injustice, forever. In His time He makes all things beautiful – Ecclesiastes 3:11a. Even so, the LORD help us.
"[God] provides a promise of hope and justice. The righteous, those who live according to God's laws, will witness the eventual downfall of the wicked. This is a recurring theme in the Psalms, such as Psalm 37:34, "Wait for the Lord and keep His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, you will see it." It reflects the biblical assurance that God will ultimately judge and bring justice, as seen in the prophetic books like Isaiah and Revelation. This also points to the ultimate victory of Christ, who will defeat all evil (Revelation 19:11-21)."
