“WALKING THE RAZOR’S EDGE” is a good expression, to describe our walk on the “Narrow Path” with the LORD. Many times, people struggle and fail, because they do not have a proper and fuller understanding of what they are into. Hence, this knowledge, that it is not an easy walk for the Christian, would help our expectations, and as well, prepare us appropriately, for our walk.
– “13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.” – Matthew 7:13-14
Our walk with the LORD and its level of difficulty is magnified because of our enemies, within and without. Our fallen human nature and Satan, are working fully time, to destabilise and destroy us. Our natural man, the human nature, and the world, are actively working against us, and our interests.
– “7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” – Romans 8:7-8
– “18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice…23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.” – Romans 7:18-19;23
The Word of God encourages us to trust the LORD, and walk by faith, in His ability to keep us safe, and give us strength to walk well, on the Narrow Path. Such a thing is not, a one time event, but a long process, where our yielding to God, is essential for our spiritual stability and growth.
– “1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” – Romans 8:1-6
May we learn to seek the LORD for help and strength. May we learn to lean upon Him, so that we may walk worthy of His name. Even so the LORD help us.
"The Christian is entirely freed from the law of sin and death, and from the condemnation that it entails. But he is so upon the condition that this freedom is for him a reality--that it really proceeds from the indwelling Spirit of Christ."
