Twenty four hours in a day are not all the same. Nowhere do we see it more clearly than during the sunrise and the sunset. If we observe sunrises and sunsets, we realise that no two seconds are the same…it keep on changing…constantly.
A typical day is roughly divided into night and day. Even though we have sunlight during the day, it is never constant; it keeps on changing. Same is the case with the night. Even though it is dark, still it keeps on changing. Our life is just the same. It keeps on changing. Sometimes it is bright and sunny. At other times it is not so bright, but dark. This is the reality of life.
Solomon the wise, writing his thoughts and observations about life and all its changing seasons, tells us something that every Christian should remember always. This why the allowed it in the Bible.
– “1 To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1
When things are going good, we should joyfully praise God. This is good and the right thing to do.
– “16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
When things are not going good, we still praise God, because the LORD Jesus is mindful of our times and the season, and is always walking with us through it all, out of care for us.
– “20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” – “18 With all prayer and petition pray [with specific requests] at all times [on every occasion and in every season] in the Spirit, and with this in view, stay alert with all perseverance and petition [interceding in prayer] for all God’s people.” – Assorted from Ephesians 5:20, Ephesians 6:18
The call of God upon our lives is to trust God at all times, and to walk on the path we are led to, in faith and obedience. This walk that we are called to walk upon as Christians is a walk through trials and testings – like a walk through the fire. Is it all pleasant? No, it is not. Is it easy to walk such a path? Not an easy walk. What should be at the top of our mind is the fact that, the LORD walks through it all, with us; so keep on walking, trusting everything to the LORD’s care. He will take care of everything. Even so, the LORD help us.
"Every event within earthly life occurs under God’s sovereign providence, even when its meaning is hidden from human understanding. The words do not teach that every human choice is morally approved, but that God remains Lord over the circumstances, opportunities, sorrows, and labors of life. God’s purposes unfold in His appointed time, as seen in Christ’s ministry, death, and resurrection, which came at the fullness of time. Ecclesiastes calls believers to humility, patience, and faithful obedience while trusting the God whose purposes stand forever."
