As Christians, we understand that, though human beings are intelligent and capable, we are not almighty, nor invincible. We need help, and it is absolutely necessary because, we are finite. Others in the world, may not agree with Christian understanding of man as a finite being. Such a stand does not alter the reality.
Psalmist, knowing the finiteness of human beings, pens these words, “1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills – From whence comes my help?” – Psalm 121:1. Man needs help, and there are no two ways about it. Even though we have made such huge progress, yet, we seem to be actually going down the drain. Life, as the more experienced say, was better in the past, than in the present. A sure indication of the direction of our progress. A sure indication…
The Psalmist asks us, “WHERE DOES YOUR HELP COME FROM?” Instinctively, he answers the question, for himself, and for us also – “My help comes from the LORD God Almighty, our Creator and Redeemer!!!” What about us? WHERE DOES OUR HELP COME FROM? Does it come from God?
A sure way to know the source of our help is, to see, to whom we run to, in times of need. Whom do we seek for help, when in trouble? Who is seated on the throne of our hearts? Who reigns in our hearts and lives? Who is in charge of our lives? Many times, we may not have realised, that we run to others first, and to God, last. May be when all others sources have failed.
Let us join the Psalmist in saying all our heart, mind and spirit – “2 My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.” – Psalms 121:2. Praise be to the LORD!!!
"By coming to Jesus every day, you draw from the source of all resources. He is the love you so need, the joy that will motivate and renew you, and the strength that will carry you through the day no matter how much supply you require."
