It is such a joy to know that the LORD God Almighty, thought it good to send one of the twelve Apostles to our India. What an honour!!!
The Apostle Thomas, the disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, arrived in India in 52 AD. The LORD enabled the disciple to minister for twenty long years, before he was martyred near Chennai, in 72 AD.
Sadly, it took almost 2000 years, and missionaries from far away countries to actually proclaim the gospel in India. What a tragedy. It is both painful and shameful, how we have responded to the gospel. Disgraceful and reflective of our position and passion for God. Isn’t it?
Today, as in the past, the Church in India is deeply divided. It selfishly and greedily pursues its own agenda, and is utterly unfaithful to the call for which it was called in the first place. Is it not true?
We are a terrible witness to the world. Leonard Ravenhill sums up our apathy very well, “Today Christians spend more money on dog food than missions.” It is indicative of our heart and all it loves. Doesn’t it?
Let us, therefore pray, that the LORD would move us, and the Church at large, that we would serve the LORD faithfully, who saved us by His own blood.
