What is it about us, as Christians, that we wish to live in isolation? I call it ‘us and they’ mindset. That is a weak life, and a life lived out of fear.
If we interact with the ‘world’ we would become worldly, and dirty ourselves, is the logic. Why dirty ourselves…let us live a pure and holy life. If it is they are sinners and we are ‘holy’ is even more dangerous.
What a tragic waste of life, and the opportunities to live, as salt and light for God.
Jesus walked, talked and ate with the poor, the sinners and the sick. Tax collectors, prostitutes, lepers, blind, lame, adulterers. The Bible testifies “…yet without sin.”Heb 4:15
Jesus loved the sinner unconditionally. He was kind, gracious, loving and compassionate towards sinners. Yet, He never lowered His standard on sin.
Jesus expects us to do the same. Be kind, gracious, loving and compassionate. At the same time, not lowering the standard on sin.
