Biblical Encyclopaedia defines MASCHIL as “a poem, song, which enforces intelligence, wisdom, piety…” The author of a MASCHIL is writing to us, a poem or a song, out his personal, and observed experience of life, living and all that is related to it. The point is made, rather forcefully, so that the audience would not miss the point.
Ethan the Ezrahite writes one such forceful wisdom for us in Psalms 89:1 – “1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.” The point for us to observe and take note, is that, we as the children of God, ought to bring to our remembrance, as often as possible, the mercies and the faithfulness of God.
MERCY – We have received what we don’t deserve.
FAITHFULNESS – God, despite our sin, rebellion and utter worthlessness, has not only been merciful towards us, but, in spite of it, He has been faithful to us, in regards to all that He has promised us, and much more.
Would we care today, to take a peep into our hearts, and see the mercy and the faithfulness of God Almighty in our lives? What we are is, nothing but evil. What He is, is nothing but goodness, grace, mercy and faithfulness.
"10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities."
