The LORD God Almighty, the God of the Bible, is RIGHTEOUS, JUST and LOVING towards His people. He is gracious and merciful, yet uncompromising, fair, just and righteous. To know the LORD and His attributes, is essential for us to truly know Him. To understand Him, is essential for our Christian walk and growth. It is, however, good to know, that our ability to grasp God is limited and very little.
Here are some insights about YAHWEH, our God, our LORD and our Redeemer from Psalm 89. It begins with praise and a declaration – “1 I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations…6 For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?…14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.” – Psalms 89:1,6,14
The LORD speaking through Ethan the Ezrahite, declares – “24 My faithfulness and my steadfast love shall be with him, and in my name shall his horn be exalted…28 My steadfast love I will keep for him forever, and my covenant will stand firm for him.” – Psalms 89:24,28
He further declares His faithfulness and His steadfastness towards His people, even though we were found wanting, and failing Him many times, over and over – “33 Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. 34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips. 35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.” – Psalms 89:33-35
The LORD is gracious and good, without any question. He is righteous and just too, undoubtedly. Let us seek Him, to help us be faithful and obedient to our LORD, all the days of our lives. May we truly know the LORD our God, and then, when we know the grandeur and the majesty of the King of kings, and the LORD of lord, praise will flow on its own from our mouths.
May we be found faithful slaves of our Master, who own us double, as out Creator and our Redeemer.
"In them [Scripture], through the teaching of the Holy Ghost, we become acquainted with the character of God. Our eyes are divinely opened to see what a lovely Being God is! and this good, gracious, loving, heavenly Father is ours, our portion for time and for eternity; and our adorable. Lord Jesus, who gave Himself for us, is that blessed One, to whose image and likeness we shall be conformed; and to serve Him should be our greatest joy and privilege as long as we remain on earth."
