The LORD asks some very pointed questions. They are not only pointed, but are sharp as a razor, and it does cut us where it matters – Hebrews 4:12.
The Apostle James, writing to the early Church says – “14…you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.” – James 4:14.
Peter, quoting from Prophet Isaiah, says, “24…“All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away,” – 1 Peter 1:24
The above verses simply points to the fact that, human life is unpredictable, frail and fragile. Anything can happen, to anyone, at any at anytime, and we don’t seem to have much control over all that is called life, and all that happens in our lives. Now, let us ponder the question, “FOR WHAT IS YOUR LIFE?” The LORD is asking us through Apostle James – What are we living for? What are we wanting to achieve in life? What is it that we want to gain in life? What is the purpose, aim or goal for which we are living? Pointed and sharp questions for us to answer, because, human life is like grass and vapour.
May the LORD help us to wisely choose, and ensure that our life is lived meaningfully for the glory of God and for the blessing of His people. For in this is our good, our purpose for life, and our blessing.
"Moses spent forty years in the king's palace thinking that he was somebody; then he lived forty years in the wilderness finding out that without GOD he was a nobody; finally he spent forty more years discovering how a nobody with GOD can be a somebody."
