Money has wings, it is elusive, and it is by nature, fleeting and slippery. It doesn’t stay at one place, nor does it brings satisfaction and contentment, to the one who has it, even if it is in abundance. People want more of it, even though they have it abundance. They are scared, where their money will diminish, so they slave even more, after it, so that, they can sustain and improve, their monetary standing.
This process of slavish running has no end to it. It ends, only when someone realises the futility of running after money. This is precisely what Solomon says in Ecclesiastes 5:10 – “10 He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves wealth with his income; this also is vanity.”
Money helps us in so many ways. It is true, and there are no two opinions about it. However, unless we realise its place, in the scheme of things, and put money, properly and firmly in its place, we will be washed out, and very well destroy ourselves. Even so, may the LORD help us to know that, “love of money is the root of all evil…” – 1 Timothy 6:10, and that, we are called to love God with all our heart, and love our neighbour…not money, nor our possessions, our power, nor our position – “37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” – Matthew 22:37-40
"The person who thinks the money he makes is meant mainly to increase his comforts on earth is a fool, Jesus says. Wise people know that all their money belongs to God and should be used to show that God, and not money, is their treasure, their comfort, their joy, and their security."
