There may be millions upon millions of stars in the sky, but there is only one sun for earth. One may have many people around us, many of whom we may know, for many many years, but still, there will be only a handful, may be just one, who will outshine them all…just like the sun. Just like the sun, enabling life to take root and thrive on earth, so also the friend, who enables our lives to have a spring in its walk. Have we such friends in our lives? If yes, take all the good care, and hold on to them. For they not only bring light and brighten our days, but are also the “source of life” in our lives.
Friends brighten our days, and bring sunshine into our lives. However, not all are friends, who come into our lives. As my father advised, “There are many acquaintances, but few friends.” Doing all that we can, to know the difference between an acquaintance and a friend is essential. Hold on to the friend, it is worth every penny…for acquaintances do come and go…as seasons do.
A friend is someone, who loves us at all times, and is right beside us, when adversity hits us. One may not speak, day in and day out, with our friend. We just know, they are there, just like the sun, and will love us, no matter what.
Friends can get angry with us. They can get upset with us. They should, if they are true friends. However, a friend would not abandon us. All their anger, if any, is out of love for us, and our welfare. Do not get them wrong, nor lose such friends. For just as the earth has no other sun, even though there are a million stars in the sky, so also a friend, just like the sun…one in a million.
Remember always, and never forget, what the Good Old Book, in all its wisdom has said, “17 A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.” – Proverbs 17:17. Appreciate and honour the friend, and at the same time, be that friend to someone, just as the sun is to the earth.
"Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends leave footprints in your heart."
