Whenever we buy something, we verify the veracity of the product. To check, if a product is genuine or not, is a good principle in life. It saves us from getting duped, and also being stuck with a bogus product. It is a sound principle.
The LORD also asks us to be careful about words, that many a pastor, preacher and teacher speak, on behalf of Him. This too is a sound principle. It helps us from being deceived spiritually, for which the consequences could be far more serious than buying a dubious product.
– “4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.” – Matthew 24:4-5
– “1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4:1
– “6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.” – Ephesians 5:6-7
– “8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” – Colossians 2:8
– “14 And the LORD said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.” – Jeremiah 14:14
– “18 Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us.” – 1 John 2:18-19
– “11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” – Matthew 24:11-13
Let us be careful and be wise, as we walk the narrow path. There are many false prophets, and false teachers, today. Let us, like the Bereans, check the Scriptures, the Bible, which is the written Word of God, to see for ourselves, if it is true – Acts 17:10-11. May we not blindly believe everything that is preached – including what I am writing here. Please due the due diligence yourselves, and always follow the TRUTH, and the TRUTH will set you free…
– “31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:31-32
"15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?...20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’"
