The path one desires to walk on, is truly the one, that will make or mar the person. Walking on a path of righteousness is, any day, good and better. Walking on the path of wickedness, will only lead us to pain, anguish and destruction.
The Wiseman of the Proverbs, draws a comparison, and a contrast, between righteousness and wickedness. We see this theme continue in Proverbs 11:5 too.
– “5 The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way aright, But the wicked will fall by his own wickedness.”
The blameless are the ones who are redeemed by the LORD. The wicked are the ones who continue to walk in sinful ways. The driving force for the blameless, and also the wicked, is firmly rooted in our hearts.
The heart is where it all begins and ends. One heart desires to obey the righteous standards of God. Therefore, the righteousness of the blameless. The heart of the wicked hates God, His law and His ways. They wish to be led by the standards of the world, and its prince, the Lucifer. Therefore, their wickedness.
The consequences of the path we desire to walk on, is seen in the fruit that we reap, in our lives.
1- The blameless, despite their struggles and the storms, will end up in a place of blessing…always – for God is the Author of their righteousness.
– “5 The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way aright…”
2- The wicked, even if they appear to be powerful and prosperous, will end up being losers, and will end in complete destruction. No one needs to destroy the wicked. They will destroy themselves…for such is the power of wickedness in the world, and its prince, the Lucifer.
– “5…But the wicked will fall by his own wickedness.”
As the redeemed of the LORD, may we always be led, by the righteous standards of our LORD. Let us not be discouraged nor disturbed by the power and the prosperity of the wicked. Those who walk with the LORD, will be properly provided for, and will be perfectly protected, by the LORD God Almighty. May we always desire to walk with our Redeemer, and always desire to live for Him and Him alone, no matter what. Even so the LORD help us.
"Only by walking with God can we hope to find the path that leads to life. That is what it means to be a disciple. After all aren’t we ‘followers of Christ’? Then by all means, let’s actually follow him. Not ideas about him. Not just his principles. Him."
