TRUST THE “SHIELD”

The LORD God our Creator, writing to us in the Bible, has some very important and profound words. The quicker we grasp them, the better it is for us. Here is Proverbs 30:5 we find one such precious and priceless gem. Let us look into it, and see what we can learn this morning.
– “5 Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” – Proverbs 30:5

1- “EVERY WORD OF GOD IS PURE” 
Whatever the LORD our God and our Saviour says, is true, and worthy of all our immediate ATTENTION, complete ACCEPTANCE and wholehearted ADHERENCE. Nothing short of this would be of any use to is at all.
– “Every thing that God has pronounced, every inspiration which the prophets have received, is pure, without mixture of error, without dross. Whatever trials it may be exposed to, it is always like gold: it bears the fire, and comes out with the same lustre, the same purity, and the same weight.” – Adam Clarke

2- “HE IS A SHIELD TO THOSE WHO PUT THEIR TRUST IN HIM”
We are called out of darkness into His marvellous light – 1 Peter 2:9-10. We are called to place our trust in God, because His WORD is pure as gold. He is absolutely trustworthy. He can be utterly depended upon. He is totally reliable. He does not let His people down. He cares for all who place their trust in Him. “HE IS A SHIELD TO THOSE WHO PUT THEIR TRUST IN HIM”
– “…God is a shield. The sense is that God gives His pure word to protect His people if they will use the wisdom and encouragement of His word to put their trust in Him…a shield is something we trust, and if we wisely trust God and His revelation of Himself in His word, He will protect us.” – David Guzik

How are we doing in our lives? Whom are we depending upon? Where are we placing our trust? Whom are we trusting? If we are not placing our complete trust in the LORD Jesus Christ, but are trusting ourselves, or trusting someone else, or something else, then we are joyfully plotting our own destruction and annihilation. May we be wise to seek the LORD, and obey Him faithfully. Let us TRUST THE “SHIELD” – our LORD Jesus Christ, at all times. Even so, the LORD help us.
