Praising and thanking God our Creator and Redeemer will come naturally to any of us, if we truly know what we have received from the LORD Jesus, and what would happen to us, if He had not been gracious and merciful towards us, by loving us unconditionally, and forgiving even though we don’t merit it. David the shepherd and the king grasped this truth all too well, and hence he declares…
– “30 I will praise the name of God with a song, And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.” – Psalm 69:30
David declares, “I WILL PRAISE…” and “WILL MAGNIFY HIM…” The words of David are filled with gratitude and thankfulness. One is grateful and thankful only when we realise our own utter inadequacy; and the unmerited goodness, mercy and kindness shown towards us by the other person, despite he not required to be so towards us. God our Creator and LORD is the only One in the whole world who has been so towards us. The moment we realise it, our hearts wouldn’t stay silent and our Young’s wouldn’t stop praising and thanking God our Father and our LORD.
– “49 Therefore I will give thanks to You, O LORD, among the Gentiles, And sing praises to Your name.” – Psalm 18:49
– “17 I will praise the LORD according to His righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.” – Psalm 7:17
– “1 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night,” – Psalm 92:1-2
How are we faring, dear brothers and sisters? What is flowing out of our mouths this morning? What thoughts are occupying our hearts and minds? What words are flowing out of our lips? I WILL! choose to praise and thank God, WHAT ABOUT YOU? If gratitude and thankfulness are not flowing through us this morning, then we should pause and ponder why is it so? Let us take time to look into ourselves this morning. Even so the LORD Jesus help us.
"[David]...calls us to a deliberate lifestyle of worship: choosing to praise, focusing on God’s revealed name, expressing adoration through song, lifting Him high above all else, and doing it all with a grateful heart. Such praise glorifies God and strengthens believers, turning even seasons of hardship into platforms for His honour."
