“What is Prayer?” and “How should We Pray?” are questions to help us gain insights into God our LORD and prayer. Prayer is a provision made by God for the benefit and the blessing of His children. The LORD God encourages us to call upon Him in prayer – Jeremiah 33:3.
– PRAYER is a CALL to the LORD God Almighty.
– Prayer is a call unto the LORD GOD Almighty at ALL TIMES, and in ALL SITUATIONS.
– Prayer is a call to TRUST God to take care of all our needs.
– Prayer is also A CALL to THANK GOD for all His gracious and merciful provision and protection.
Let us always remember that, prayer is a provision made by God to us, His children, to call upon Him when we are in need of help, strength and courage.
– “12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:12-13
Dear brothers and sisters, “GOD indeed CALLS US TO PRAY” to Him, and seek Him. Therefore HE says to us…
1- “Then YE SHALL CALL UPON ME, AND PRAY UNTO ME”
We are encouraged to pray and seek God’s face. Prayer is an important and integral aspect of a Christian’s life. Are we seeking God for all our needs?
2- “I WILL HEARKEN UNTO YOU”
The LORD God Almighty, our Father in heaven is making a solemn and firm promises to us when He says, “I WILL HEARKEN UNTO YOU” Do we trust God’s promise to hear us, when we call upon Him in prayer?
3- “YE SHALL SEEK ME, AND FIND ME”
The LORD Jesus re-emphasise His promise to hear us, by promising us that we SHALL FIND HIM when we SEEK GOD in prayer.
4- “WHEN YE SHALL SEARCH FOR ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART”
Let us pay careful attention to the words – “WHEN YE SHALL SEARCH FOR ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART” – our prayers and the fulfilment of God’s promises are inalienably linked to we calling upon God WHOLEHEARTEDLY – “WITH ALL OUR HEARTS.” Are seeking God our LORD and Redeemer with all our hearts?
The LORD on His part promises us all through the written Word of God, the Bible, that He will listen to our prayers when we call upon Him.
– “12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.” – 1 Peter 3:12
– “29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.” – Proverbs 15:29
– “8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.” – Proverbs 15:8
May we always trust God while seeking Him in prayer. May we always trust God’s promise to hear us when we call upon Him. Let us always call upon the LORD with all our heart – just as He urged us to. Even so the LORD help us.
"You will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart: God would not hide from His people when they sought Him. They would not suffer under the dark sense that God could not be found. Their seeking and God’s revealing were part of their future and hope."
