“TELL THEM”

We all talk a lot about a lot of things, all through the day and into the night. If we were to take a stock of all what we talk, what percentage of it would be praising, thanking and glorifying God for all what He had done, is doing, and will do in the future, in our lives? It is a serious question to ask ourselves. It helps us to know all what we are occupied with, all through the day and night.

When a demon possessed man was healed by the LORD Jesus, the man earnestly wanted to follow the LORD wherever He went. However, the LORD Jesus denies his request, and tells that man to do something very specific, which I think should be a reminder to all of us, about what we ought to be doing most of the day and night. Let us read on…
– “18 And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. 19 However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” 20 And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled.” – Mark 5:18-20

The LORD Jesus tells that man to do this specific thing, instead of following Him night and day, like the other disciples.
– GO HOME TO YOUR FRIENDS
– TELL THEM WHAT GREAT THINGS THE LORD HAS DONE FOR YOU
– HOW HE HAS HAD COMPASSION ON YOU

– “TELL THEM” IS TO “TALK” ABOUT HIS SICKNESS
The LORD Jesus wanted the healed man to talk about his sickness, his problem, and how he found healing – “I WAS SICK, AND NOW I AM HEALED.” – “I WAS IN NEED, AND NOW MY NEED IS MET.”

– “TELL THEM” IS TALKING TO PEOPLE ABOUT THE SOLUTION HE FOUND
The LORD Jesus wanted the healed man – To tell everyone about what the LORD had done in his life, and not just make a private note about it. He was called to talk openly about all what the LORD Jesus had done for him.

– THE MAN FAITHFULLY OBEYED THE LORD JESUS AND BEGAN “TALKING TO THEM”
The LORD’s commands, wishes and desires are to be obeyed. The man went back to his town and to his home, and obeyed the LORD Jesus. He talked with everyone about the healing and the Healer! We are to obey our LORD Jesus, joyfully. We are obey our LORD Jesus, immediately. We are to obey our LORD Jesus wholeheartedly. This is exactly what the man did – “20 And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled.”

– REMEMBER THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE IS BEING WRITTEN DOWN
Our talk is not a small matter. It is a serious mistake, to say it doesn’t matter. When we talk to others about all what our LORD had done in our lives, we are demonstrating our gratefulness and our thankfulness to the LORD Jesus for all what we have received at His hands. When we do so something else also happens, which has eternal ramifications. Let us read what the Bible says in Malachi.
– “16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, And the LORD listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the LORD And who meditate on His name. 17 “They shall be Mine,” says the LORD of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them As a man spares his own son who serves him.” – Malachi 3:16-17

Are we talking to people about all what we have received from the LORD Jesus? Do we publicly praise and thank God for all what He had done in our lives? What kind of talk proceeds out of our lips when we are with our family and friends? Does God’s goodness, grace and mercy towards us, part of our conversations? Let us pause and ponder about this. Even so, the LORD Jesus help us.
