REWARD FOR OUR WORK

Work is sacred for a Christian. Even if we are working among those who are not Christians; even if we work in an organisation that is owned by those who are not Christians, we are commanded to consider all work as sacred; and all work that we do, as though into the LORD Jesus Himself. This is the biblical stand on work and workers.
– “22 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. 25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.” – Colossians 3:22-25

A Christian worker has his own set of challenges and obstacles that are exclusive to Christians. Many times our faith in the LORD Jesus can become a tool of subtle persecution, unseen by the world around us, yet very much felt by the Christian worker. Despite our struggles and sufferings because of our faith and our stand for Jesus, we are called to live and work for the LORD Jesus with all sincerity and integrity.
– “5 Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ; 6 not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, 7 with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men, 8 knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.” – Ephesians 6:5-8

Many times people may not recognise us. Many times people may not appreciate our efforts and our work. Let us be faithful to God, and He will bless us for all our hard work. As Christian worker, whether our work is recognised or not, appreciated or not, we are to work with integrity and honesty. The LORD Jesus who sees us and our work, will reward us for our work, in His time.

As Christian workers, let nothing dishearten or discourage us with regards to our work, my dear brothers and sisters. The LORD who sees us, and our work, will in His time will lift us up, and will most certainly reward us accordingly. This is the most certain of all things concerning us as workers. The LORD sees us, and will reward us. The life of Joseph is a very fine example in this regards.
– “2 The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD made all he did to prosper in his hand. 4 So Joseph found favor in his sight, and served him. Then he made him overseer of his house, and all that he had he put under his authority.” – Genesis 39:2-4
– “Christian duty is ultimately directed to the risen Christ, whose authority stands above every human relationship and institution. Serving others with integrity, humility, and faithfulness becomes service offered to Him.” – Berean Study Bible Notes

Dear brothers and sisters, let us always remember that the LORD Jesus will bless us for all our hard work. Let us patiently demonstrate our integrity and sincerity in our work, and leave the rest to the LORD. He will reward us appropriately in His time. Even so, the LORD Jesus help us.
