Everyone goes through challenges in life. What makes the difference is, our character, in the sense of our attitude, in facing them, and walking through all our challenging circumstances. It is like the old English proverb, “When the things get tough, the tough get going.” There is another English proverb, which can shape our character and our perspective – “Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.”
As a Christian, what are we made of? What defines us and our perspective? What gives us the strength when facing challenges in life? We can be comforted by the fact that, the LORD our God is someone, who is trustworthy, and dependable, in all our challenging circumstances. David says, “5 My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved.
7 In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” – Psalms 62:5-8
May we, like David of the Bible, find in the LORD, the our source of all our help and strength, at all times. He will take care of everything…trust and obey Him.
"What then are we to do about our problems? We must learn to live with them until such time as God delivers us from them. We must pray for grace to endure them without murmuring. Problems patiently endured will work for our spiritual perfecting. They harm us only when we resist them or endure them unwillingly."
