My dear children of God, walk not in the ways of the world. The ways of the world, may appear pleasing and good. Have we forgotten what happened to Eve and Adam, when they “saw” the appearance of the fruit, that was prohibited for them to eat? – Genesis 3:4-6. The ways of the world will, but lead us to destruction. Beware the world, and all its ways, they are designed by our enemy, for our destruction. Yes, our total and ultimate destruction.
– “1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” – Psalm 1:1
Have we noticed the steady downward progression in the above verse? It begins with LISTENING to the counsel of the Ungodly, which leads to STANDING in the Way of the Sinners, and ultimately ends up by SITTING in the SEAT of the SCORNFUL. What a steady but sure progress into DECAY, DECADENCE and DESTRUCTION. Have you noticed it?
– “The great lesson to be learned from the whole is, sin is progressive; one evil propensity or act leads to another. He who acts by bad counsel may soon do evil deeds; and he who abandons himself to evil doings may end his life in total apostasy from God.” – Adam Clarke
How are we filtering, all what is entering into us, through our eyes, ears, senses and our dreams and desires? Do we have any fail proof safeguards, against the wiles of the world? Do we even consider the idea that, the world can lead us astray? How do we view the world and all its ways? Do we see any difference between the world and the Word of God?
– “9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. 10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee…103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” – Psalm 119:9-11, 103-105
Let us pause for a moment, and think about what influences us – our thoughts, words and deeds. May we always learn to seek God. May we always desire to obey the LORD. If ever there is a clash between the world, and the Word of God, may we every time choose the Word, over the world. Even so, the LORD help us.
"The blessed man does not do certain things. There is a way he will not walk, a path he will not stand in, and a seat he will not sit in...We can say these speak of thinking, behaving, and belonging. The righteous man and the ungodly man are different in how they think, how they behave, and to whom they belong."
