Faith that the LORD expects from us is, not some idle trust in God, and waiting for Him to give us, all what we want, on a platter. That is no faith at all.
Faith that the Bible talks about is, a dynamic faith, which trusts God implicitly, and knows for sure that, He will honour His word. Basing on such an assurance, we the disciples, step out of our comfort zones in faith, with the confidence that, God will keep His word. However, we need to be careful, not to presume things, and then call it faith in God. It would be foolish of us, and we would end up in a disaster, of our own ignorance.
The following incidents from the Bible helps us see the dynamic faith which the Bible speaks about.
– Abraham ventured out of all his comforts trust God and His promise – Genesis 12:1-5.
– Abraham’s faith in God, when asked to sacrifice Isaac – Genesis 22:1-19.
– Moses trusting God, all through the Exodus of Hebrew children, from Egypt, seen in the parting of the Red sea – Genesis 14.
– Faith displayed by Mordecai and Esther, in the face of danger and death – Esther 4:13-14.
– Faith that is seen in the response of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego – Daniel 3:16-18.
– David’s faith while facing Goliath – 1 Samuel 17.
– Peter ventured into the deep on the word of the LORD Jesus – Luke 5:1-11.
– The same faith is displayed by the disciples, who trusted the words of Jesus, and left everything to follow His call, not know how things would pan out – Matthew 4:18-22.
How about us? Do we wait for God to repeat the same thing again and again? This would be counted as unbelief. May the dynamic faith of all our predecessors mentioned in Hebrews 11, be our inspiration, to step out of our comfort zones, and obediently follow the LORD.
"Our faith and trust must be like the disciples', leaving everything in God’s hands."
