Friends are special people, and few in numbers. A friend doesn’t change like the seasons. So also, should we be, with our friends. Careful in our choice, and steadfast in our friendship.
Sadly, we live in an age, where everything is monetised. Friends and friendships are no more purely for friendship. “”What is in it for me?”” is a question that is asked, almost in almost every relationship. When commerce runs the world, ruin is never far behind.
Jonathan [1 Sam 18:1,3,4] braved his father, the king, and stood firmly with his friend David, the shepherd boy. He chose to stand for truth, at the risk of displeasing his father. He even willing to forego his very future as the next king [1 Sam 19:1,2].
What if the friend is wrong? Then we still stand with our friend, but “”speak the TRUTH in love”” [Ephesians 4:15] without a moment’s hesitation. That is standing for your friend…that is standing for truth. Nothing matters, and truth is never a loss.
Truth is never compromised for a friend. Also, one doesn’t give up on friends. That is staying constant with our friends.
