Today is a day every Christian should remember. On 24 June 64 AD, the Roman Emperor Nero begins to persecute Christians. Which will continue for the next 300 years, will little respite. The reason for doing so is built upon lies; far removed from the truth; more to save Nero himself, than to serve any other “greater” purpose. What a tragedy!
The world hasn’t changed much since 2000 years. It would be appropriate to say, since the fall of man. The godly were, are and will be persecuted.
Lucifer hates us. His demonic angels hate us. The world, as Lucifer’s agent, will hate us. The “flesh” driven people will hate us. Have no second thoughts about it. The Word of God rightly says, “12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” – Ephesians 6:12.
Jesus Himself said,. “18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” – John 15:18-19
To be called a disciple of the LORD Jesus Christ is an honour, and it doesn’t come by cheaply. There is a cost to be paid. Let us count the cost…the cost to be paid by a disciple. Let us tread on, regardless of what is thrown at us. The LORD is with us. He will lead us and guide us. HalleluYah!
"Persecution is one of the natural consequences of living the Christian life. It is to the Christian what “growing pains” are to the growing child. No pain, no development. No suffering, no glory. No struggle, no victory. No persecution, no reward."
