The Word of God declares, “10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. – Psalms 103:10-12
The above three verses written by David, has three very important points for our life, and our understanding of who God is, and who we actually are. But to understand these three verses, we need to look at verse 8 for the context – “8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.”
1- The LORD is MERCIFUL, GRACIOUS, SLOW TO ANGER and PLENTEOUS IN MERCY tells us about the character of God, our Creator. Therefore, God did not deal with us, in a rightful and deserving manner. Verse 10 says – “10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.”
2- The goodness, grace and mercy of God doesn’t end there – “11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.” It is something that we can never ever fathom.
3- God doesn’t stop there. He goes much more, and beyond that. God intentionally chooses to forgive us of our sins, which we wilfully committed, and instead, treat us with love – “12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”
Now having known the love of God, let us be thankful and grateful to Him. Also, can we do the same?
"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ- by grace you have been saved."
