Mothers are such amazing and wonderful people. They seem to have boundless energy, great presence of mind, to set things right, and the capacity to love, care and sacrifice themselves, and their interests, for her family…even if there is not much of an appreciation. They are precious and priceless…let us learn to respect and honour them, while they are still alive and around us.
Let me also add, not every woman can be a mother. However, only a woman can be a mother. There are terribly bad women, just like men. There are terribly bad mothers, just like fathers. However the role and responsibilities of a mother is something extremely difficult for a man. He is simply out of league without any question. He has his own role to play…and that is another story for another day.
A mother’s love and sacrifices is surpassed only by God’s love and sacrifice. The Word of God records through the writings of prophet Isaiah, “15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will not forget you. 16 See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.” – Isaiah 49:15-16
The love of God, much like the love of mother, stopped down to help us, and rescue us, from the consequences of our sins – “8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
“16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” – Romans 5:8; John 3:16
What is that we can learn on this Mother’s Day? Let us learn to love all people around us, just like how mothers love their children. Let us learn to sacrifice our rights, for the sake of all around us, just like mother sacrifice for her children. Let us learn to forgive, as does the mother. Let us learn to put others, and their needs, over and above our needs, just like the mothers.
Here is the sum of my thoughts – only those who hold the capacity to love unconditionally, and sacrifice unreservedly, can be called the children of God…be it mothers or men. May the LORD help us to spread love, and not anger, hate and war…just like mothers…just like the LORD Jesus Christ of Nazareth… our LORD, and the One who wants us to imitate Him.
"A mother's love is unlike any other, and it is often said that it is the purest and most selfless form of love. From the moment a child is born, a mother's love is unconditional and unwavering, and it can withstand any obstacle or challenge that comes her way."
