The LORD Jesus talking about commitment to God has this to say in Luke 9:62 – “62 But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
“No turning back” is an important spiritual principle. We cannot be distracted by anything. Neither can anything take priority or precedence over we being the disciple of the LORD. There is a cost to be paid.
Whatever is the cost we must be willing to pay. For such is the call to discipleship. “26 “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it—” – Luke 14:26-28.
On 13 June 1793, that is today, almost 230 years back, William Carey and his family sail for India, accompanied by John Thomas. Carey engages in, and accomplishes notable mission work, in a ministry spanning four decades, till his death in 1834. Carey never turns back, and he never returned back to his homeland, despite many struggles and problems. Carey and his family did pay a price.
May the LORD help raise many in these last days who will serve the LORD and the LORD alone…faithfully and obediently. May I, and we, be counted as “good” and “faithful” servant by our LORD and Master.
"Good works are not the cause of our salvation; good works are the evidence of our salvation. Faith in Christ always results in good works. Obedience to God is the mark of true saving faith."
