Life is busy, that is the general nature of life. Time seems to fly, and we can see it in our own lives. Works seem to pile up every day, as if, it is never ending, and ever increasing. When such is the hectic nature of life, we need to have a steady source of strength, supplied to us, day upon day. If not, it will not take long, before we just breakdown, and simply burn ourselves out. This is also equally true, about life.
God, in His grace and mercy, had made His abundant and unceasing supply of strength, available to us. All that we need to do is to, reach out to that source, and get our strength, and inspiration, for the works that are waiting for our attention. In particular, the LORD made His Bible, and the provision of prayer, made available to us, as our resources for strength and sustenance. When we learn to lean upon the Word of God, and spend time in prayer, the LORD sends His strength, and helps us walk victoriously through the day. This is absolutely true, and surely verifiable, if we seek them sincerely.
Martin Luther, the great German reformer, on 30 November 1530, remarked thus about prayer…
– “Whenever I happen to be prevented by the press of duties from observing my hour of prayer, the entire day is bad for me.”
On a different occasion, he observed…
– “If I should neglect prayer but a single day, I should lose a great deal of the fire of faith.”
– “As is the business of tailors to make clothes and cobblers to make shoes, so it is the business of Christians to pray.”
The Bible says…
– “1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,” – Luke 18:1
Speaking on the written Word of God, and the reading of it on a daily basis, Luther believed this…
– “The Bible is alive, it speaks to me; it has feet, it runs after me; it has hands, it lays hold of me.”
– “Nothing helps more powerfully against the devil, the world, the flesh, and all evil thoughts than occupying oneself with God’s Word, having conversations about it, and contemplating it.”
The Bible says…
– “105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
– “17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—” – Ephesians 6:17-18
May we learn to depend on the written Word of God, and the ever available resource of prayer. God will help us through the Word of God, and the prayer, to navigate safely through each day of our lives. Whatever may be thrown at us, nothing would ever drown us, if we learn to lean on the Word of God, and upon prayer, to our Father, as part of “OBSERVING MY HOUR OF PRAYER” every morning, day upon day. May the LORD help us to live victoriously, over all that is thrown at us. Even so the LORD help us.
"Prayer is the place of refuge for every worry, a foundation for cheerfulness, a source of constant happiness, a protection against sadness."
