The Eternal and Everlasting Word, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the One who came down from heaven, the Word that became flesh [John 1:14] just like you and me, to seek and save that which was lost [Luke 19:10] came as the Servant King [Matthew 20:28] and as the Man of Sorrows [Isaiah 53:3] all because He loved us, cared for us, and did not want us to perish [John 3:16] – What does it tell us about our Redeemer? Oh, how beyond our comprehension, is the love of God the Almighty!
It is good for us to know that, for us to be rescued, and restored back, it took a huge and inestimable price for God. Despite the cost, the LORD chose to die for you and me. He chose to suffer and go through every conceivable pain, so that He could rescue us.
– “3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. 4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth…10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin…” – Isaiah 53:3-7; 10
The LORD Jesus was not only bruised and crushed for our sakes, *He was put through sufferings, like no other.* He went through it all, for the love He has for us.
– “9 In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. 10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” – 1 John 4:9-10
The LORD who loved us so, knows all our sufferings, and He cares for us like no other. He Himself had gone through it all, the Man of Sorrows, *”ONE WHO HAS BEEN IN OUR SITUATION.”* Therefore, He deals with us compassionately, when He sees what we are going through. Because He knows what suffering and pain is, He deals with us kindly and mercifully.
– “14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrews 4:14-15
Let nothing trouble us. Let nothing disturb us. Let nothing scare us. The LORD who chose to die for us, is willing to listen to our cries, and is more than willing to help us. Let us, therefore, seek Him, the Man of Sorrows, and pour out our hearts to Him. Let us ask Him to help us, more than anything else, to walk in His ways, obediently and faithfully. Let us desire, much more than anything, to live for Him, and to lift Him up, whatever may be our situation. He will take care of everything else. Even so the LORD help us.
"He knows our sorrows, not merely as He knows all things, but as one who has been in our situation, and who, though without sin himself, endured when upon earth, inexpressibly more for us, than He will ever lay upon us."
