One thing that can and should be reassuring to every disciple of the LORD Jesus, is the fact that, God is always with us, and that, He truly cares for us and our welfare. This very fact should help us through any struggle and every storm. The LORD is our source of strength…do we need anything more? HalleluYah!!!
David, a young fugitive on the run, not knowing what would happen, and what harm would befall him, writes Psalm 34. He is chased by Saul, who is bent upon killing this young man. David seeks shelter with the neighbouring king, Abimelech, but is driven away. Running for his life, and nowhere to hide, he takes shelter in some caves.
How would we be under such circumstances? This is how young David responded – “1 I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.” – Psalms 34:1-3
Psalm 34 is titled, “The Happiness of Those Who Trust in God.” How apt and appropriate is the title! Now the question for us is – would we praise God in the face of such stiff and life threatening situations? It is understandable that, it is not easy. However, if we know the LORD, His nature, and His love, we will but certainly, place our trust on Him, and will wait patiently for the LORD to help and deliver us.
Let us join in David’s call…even to us today – OH, MAGNIFY THE LORD WITH ME! Let us with all our hearts!!!
"What scope there is for holy boasting in Jehovah! His person, attributes, covenant, promises, works, and a thousand things besides, are all incomparable, unparalleled, matchless; we may cry them up as we please, but we shall never be convicted of vain and empty speech in so doing."
